The 21 WCP was opened on July 16, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. by 21 WCP President Carlos M. Gutierrez and UPLI Pres. Benjamin R. Yuzon. Poet/artist Inmaculada Cruz welcomed us on behalf of the local chapter of Pensarte, our Nicaraguan host organization. Mexican poet Luticia Highland of Pensarte was our official translator. Our event was covered by local and national newspapers and television.

El 21er Congreso Mundial de Poetas (WCP) fue inaugurado el 16 de julio del 2009 a las 9:00 a.m. por el Presidente del 21er Congreso, Carlos M. Gutierrez y el Presidente de UPLI Benjamin R. Yuzon.La poeta/artista Inmaculada Cruz nos dio la bienvenida a nombre del capítulo local de Pensarte, nuestra organización anfitriona nicaragüense.La poeta mexicana Luticia Highland de Pensarte fue nuestra traductora oficial. We attended an outdoor fiesta celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Nicaraguan government. It was held in the National Plaza. The old Cathedral ruins, on one side of the plaza, was lit up for the celebration.
