23RD WORLD CONGRESS OF POETS IN OSAKA, JAPAN, MARCH 2014

THE LOCATION  –  OSAKA, JAPAN

Osaka City is the capital of the Osaka Prefecture. It has been one of the most active commercial, political, as well as the cultural centers in Japan. Since old times Osaka has been linked with many highways, like Tokaido Highway, and now with many freeways and railways, as like Tomei Freeway or Shinkansen; super express trains, now linked through with every place in Japan, including Kyoto and Tokyo. It has the Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Domestic Airport, which links to every city of the world as well as to the main cities in Japan. It is situated near Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Wakayama, which have been central areas in the West of Japan, so rich with cultural and religious histories. Even now the City is one of the five big cities in Japan with a second larger population. In 1970 they had the EXPO’70, the International Exhibition, with a great success and the large site was left to a public park for the people.

Culturally, Osaka culture is more frank and familiar than in Kyoto or Tokyo, as like in Manzai, the comic stage dialogue performance, which will show Osaka people’s frank and free minds, with their love to laughing out. The great Japanese playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon was born in Osaka in the eighteenth century and produced many puppet dramas. It is still one of the most promising cities in Japan.
