Dear Poets,

United Poets Laureate International’s World Congress of Poets will be held November 27-December 1, 2016 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sonoma Wine Country in Rohnert Park, CA, USA. Notable poets from around the world have been invited to attend. We also invite poets who we do not yet know to come and share with us the work of spreading understanding, brotherhood and peace throughout the world through poetry and meeting each other face to face in order to become friends.

The World Congress of Poets meets approximately every two years to discuss how to promote world peace and brotherhood through poetry. Since 2000, we have met in the Philippines, Thailand, Texas, China, Alabama, Nicaragua, Greece and Japan. This year, we are meeting in Rohnert Park, CA, USA, in the beautiful California wine country.

Expected events at the Congress includes meeting poets from around the world, reading your own poetry to a world-wide audience, and having panel discussions, workshops and interactions to share our opinions and experiences with other poets. We also are planning a half day trip to Snoopy’s Home at the Charles M. Schulz Museum, and a whole day bus trip to see the scenic sights along the Russian River with stops at a winery, Armstrong’s Grove State Park and Sonoma Beach State Park. We will also have a dress-up awards banquet with entertainment, and time to collect contact information of new poet-friends.

Registration material will be posted on our website, www.upli-wcp. Our registration allows for total participation, day by day, and half day registrations. It is not required to stay at the DoubleTree, but there are informal activities such as late night read-around and conversations during meals that make total participation at the hotel a worthwhile experience.
