The Perfect Canvas

sunshine sails

through unclouded blue

no snow on board ―

my wounds have healed

leaving no scars behind

what’s not there

to like about a day

when the ice

is melting form the front steps

as we set out hand in hand

no more secrets

take off those woolen gloves,

skin to skin

let’s stroll around the lake

where plum trees are in bud

pushing through

the dark winter months

crocuses

white purple yellow

beneath leafless elms

black branches

framing an empty sky,

the perfect canvas

for whatever

one wants to become
