World brotherhood and peace through poetry

Dr. Dimitris Kraniotis, President of the 22nd World Congress of Poets to be held in Larissa, Greece, June 29-July 3, 2011
I invite you to Larissa, Greece

with its ancient theatre,
next to Olympus, the Mountain of the Gods,

June 29- July 3, 2011
for the  22nd World Congress of Poets,
which I firmly believe that it will remain in your memory and heart
as one of the best congresses ever held!

The 22nd World Congress of Poets will be held in Larissa, the 4th biggest city of Greece with a population of 200,000 people, which happens to be the capital city of Thessaly, in the heart of Greece .

The Mayor of Larissa Mr. Konstantinos Tzanakoulis stated that: "The Municipality of Larissa will aid this very important cultural event that has world-wide character and which will promote the city of Larissa and the Prefecture all over the world. With the holding of the Mediterranean Games in 2013 and the "Cultural Mediterranean " of 2009 - 2013, the event takes on special extent for the supporting of our tourism which is one of the biggest bets for the games.

United Poets Laureate International

World Congress of Poets

United Poets Laureate International is a 501c3 international organization registered in the Security and Exchange Commission of the Philippines and registered in the United States. Established on December 8, 1963 in Manila, Philippines, by Dr. Amado M. Yuzon, this organization’s fourth and current president is Dr. Benjamin R. Yuzon, Hon. Ph.D., M.E.,  son of the founder.

The purpose of UPLI is to promote world brotherhood and peace through poetry.

UPLI is the parent organization of the World Congress of Poets. Approximately every two years, a World Congress of Poets is held, organized and run by a president who has been elected by the UPLI Board of Directors and approved by the members and delegates attending the Congress from which they were nominated. During our Congresses, poets from around the world come together in friendship and celebration to hear each other’s poems, listen to scholarly papers presented about poetry, and to bestow honors for poetry, including certificates, medals and the much coveted golden laurel crown.
