THE ANSWER TO PEACE IN THE WORLD

by Rex B. Valentine

A world of peace — is it a dream?
Or is it an unattainable theme?

For centuries men have fought to win
a peace that leads to war again.

Contentment fosters apathy,
and riches almost guarantee

that man will conquer man through greed,
and jealousy, mistrust and need.

That theme of peace — most every soul
is pierced at times has no control,

as worldly pressures push and pull…
that cup of peace is never full.

When will we see that Faith is King;
that love can conquer everything?

That hope is not beyond our grasp
if hands of friendship touch and clasp.

(Most of us dream of world peace. This poem was judged 4th place internationally for rhyming poetry in 2009 at Nicaragua.)
